Located southeast of San Juan in Humacao, the Mediterranean-style resort community of Palmas del Mar may be one of the most underrated places to visit in the Caribbean! The Palmas del Mar Country Club features two championship eighteen hole golf courses. The Palm Course and the Flamboyan Course have superb layouts. The senior Course, the Palm, is a Gary Player-design, built in 1973. Its wide Greens are covered with tifdwarf grass, its tight, tree-lined Fairways with Bermuda grass. The layout is composed of softly rolling landscapes and fairways. Water comes into play on eight holes. Combined with harsh tropical roughs, lagoons and sand traps, this course makes for a very challenging game. The Flamboyán Course has been ranked number one in Puerto Rico and among the top five courses in the Caribbean, according to Baron's Magazine.

Flamboyan Course at Palmas del Mar, Rees Jones developed this resort course and it opened in 1999. This long and demanding course rates as one of the best courses in Puerto Rico and measures 7,117 yards. There are natural wetlands, meadows, trees, streams and, of course, the magnificent Caribbean Sea. The oceanfront breezes provide constantly changing conditions and there are serval holes along side the sea. Palmas Del Mar is located about 60 minutes from San Juan. Palms Course at Palmas del Mar, Gary Player left his mark in Puerto Rico in 1974 with this resort course in Humacao. It is slightly shorter then its sister course but demands accuracy off the tee.
