Opened in 1993 and designed by renowned architect Arthur Hills the par 72 golf course at
El Conquistador Resort & Golden Door Spa is challenging yet player-friendly. Cleverly
planned lateral movements and broad openings as well as dramatic elevation changes of
more than 200 feet are the hallmarks of this course. The evaluation changes in particular
are rare among typically flat Caribbean golf course. The course also offers dramatic views
of the majestic El Yunque Rain Forest and sparkling Atlantic Ocean.
Other recommended area golf course to play while staying at the El Conquistador are the
two courses at Palmas del Mar. Palmas Del Mar is located in Humacao about 35 minutes southwest of
the El Conquistador and Las Casitas village. The Flamboyan Course is long and
demanding. Having opened in 1999 and designed by Ress Jones, it's known as one of the top
courses in Puerto Rico. The Palm Course is a Gary Player designed 18 hole course shorter
then its sister course but with more of an emphasis on accuracy.
